

Preferred Care at Wall. She was born and raised in South Bend, IN and settled in Dumont, NJ
where she raised her children.
She was the Office Manager for David Kanter, DDS in Teaneck, NJ for many years, and was
very active in the Altar and Rosary Society in Dumont. Bernie loved her years of living in Florida
where she became a Master Gardener, which was one of her favorite pastimes. She cultivated
beautiful flowers, attracted butterflies to her garden, and watched and listened to birds. She was
a very active volunteer with Hospice in the Tampa area. Bernie had a great affinity for everyone
she contacted, and touched many lives through her volunteer activities, especially Caritas, and
social engagements. She was loved for her infectious sense of humor and her unfailing devotion
to whatever she chose to pursue.
She was predeceased by her husband, Casimir “Cas” Kropkowski, and her son Kenneth J.
Kropkowski. Bernie is survived by her daughters Kate Horton and her husband John, Laurie
Kropkowski and her husband John Barthel, and Deborah Maher and her husband William,. She
had 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well.
Visitation will be held at the Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester,
NJ 08759 on Thursday, March 23 from 4-8 pm. A Catholic Mass will be said on Friday, March 24
at 10:30 am at St. Luke’s RC Church 1674 Old Freehold Road in Toms River. Interment will be
held on a future date.
For those who desire, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or
the Gary Sinise Foundation.
