Charles “Jimmy” Mack, 77, born June 6, 1949, in Middletown, New Jersey, passed away on September 6, 2026. Jimmy was a resident of Manchester, New Jersey, and will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude for a life marked by steadfast loyalty, hard work, and quiet courage—qualities that showed themselves not in grand declarations, but in the consistent way he stood by others and did what needed to be done. Even in serious moments, Jimmy’s humor had a way of easing the weight of the day, offering comfort and connection when it mattered most.
Jimmy served in the Viet Nam war, a chapter of his life that reflected both bravery and resolve. In the years that followed, he continued to fight for programs for Viet Nam Veterans, remaining committed to those who served alongside him and to the needs of the broader veteran community—an enduring expression of his loyalty and sense of responsibility.
Jimmy enlisted in the Marines and served his country, honorably during the Viet Nam War, from 1966-1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal with Combat, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Jimmy was a past Post Commander and board member of the VVA, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12 of Oakhurst, NJ, the largest and oldest organization in America, member of the Leisure Knoll Veteran's Club and was a key factor in the memorial design for the 9/11 Memorial located in Leisure Knoll. Jimmy was also a past Commander of the VFW Post 2226, for 16 years.
Jimmy had worked as a over the road truck driver. He was a hardworking and loyal man. He was quick witted and was ready to give it right back to you, if you dared.
Jimmy shared 34 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Margaret Mary “Peggy” Mack. Their life together stood as a testament to devotion and constancy, and Peggy remains close in the hearts of all who knew and loved Jimmy.
He is also survived by his son, Jim Mack, Jr., and peg's children, who Jim considered his own, Wendy Emelo and Michael Whitbeck, and his 6 grandsons, his nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters from the United States Military Family.
Visitation for Jimmy will be held at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, on September 13, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. VFW Post 2226 will take place at 1:30 pm, a VVA -Vietnam Veterans of America will take place at 2:00 pm and a Prayer Service and a service by the Leisure Knoll Veteran's Club will be held on September 13, 2026; will take place at 3:30 pm.
A Procession to the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery will depart from Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, on September 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Military Honors will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562, on September 15, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Jimmy’s life leaves a lasting imprint—one shaped by service, perseverance, and a steady, good-natured presence. He will be deeply missed and respectfully remembered.
