

Daniel A. Kumah, 74, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at his home in Manchester, New Jersey. Daniel Akwasi Kumah, lovingly known as Yaw Kyei, was born on August 15, 1951, in Takoradi, Ghana. He was the son of the late Mr. Akwasi Kumah of Ghana Railways and the late Mrs. Cecilia Akwasi Kumah, affectionately called Aya. Both of his parents hailed from Offinso Maase in the Ashanti Region. Daniel was the eighth of eleven siblings, a family blessed with three daughters and eight sons.
Daniel received his elementary education at Aggrey Road No. 1 School in Community Two, Tema, and later attended Tema Secondary School for his secondary education. After completing his ‘O’ Level studies, he continued his academic journey at Kumasi Polytechnic, where he pursued Accounting. Upon completing his program, he returned to Tema and began working with Union Carbide Company.
In 1977, he left Ghana to pursue his dreams in the United States, enrolling at Taylor University in Indiana, where he studied accounting and built the foundation for a life of purpose and accomplishment. While pursuing his education, Daniel held several jobs both on and off campus, frequently working long hours after completing his coursework. This was a true testament to the dedication and hard work that defined his life. He graduated in 1981 and afterward joined Coca Cola, lending his abilities to the company’s accounting department. Daniel held various roles over the course of his career, ultimately serving at Permacel for over 15 years prior to his retirement.
Daniel’s love for music was a gift he shared freely. His piano melodies brought warmth and joy to countless moments, creating treasured memories for family and friends. At home, he was the heart of every gathering, welcoming loved ones to swim, laugh, and enjoy good food. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, whether strolling through the park with his wife and children or discovering new restaurants together. Daniel developed a deep love for cruising, a joy he embraced later in life. Every moment with
Daniel was a celebration of love and togetherness.
Though a man of few words, Daniel’s presence spoke volumes. He embraced simplicity and found beauty in life’s smallest details. His kindness was boundless, always ready to help, offering wisdom and guidance when it mattered most. His greatest joy was his family. Every day, he poured his love and energy into caring for his children, celebrating their victories big or small with unwavering pride and enthusiasm.
Daniel often reminded those around him to “have patience” and “it’s okay”—simple yet profound words that revealed his deep understanding of life’s challenges and his unwavering belief in grace and resilience. These were more than comforting phrases; they were guiding principles that shaped the way he lived and loved. Daniel carried himself with dignity and intention, staying true to his values until the very end. Even when his faith was tested, it never wavered. In his final moments, he found peace in the certainty that he would meet his Maker.
Through his life and actions, Daniel embodied the true essence of devotion, creating a home filled with warmth, strength, and unconditional love. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Comfort, his treasured children Peter, Oprah, and Ama his dear in-laws, Nana Ama and Akim, and his precious grandchildren, Pomaah G., Pomaah K., Daniel, Israel, Mariam, and Musa. Each of them will forever carry his love in their hearts. Today, Daniel reunites in eternal peace with his beloved son, Kwame, who preceded him in passing.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, located at 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, United States. The service is scheduled for February 28, 2026, from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, with interment to immediately follow at the Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.
