As a longtime resident of Toms River, New Jersey, Jere graduated from High School South in 1967. He was generous, hardworking, and for those who really knew him they will remember his quick wit and charm.
Jere built a long and respected career in construction. As founder of Site-Con of NJ and V.P. Construction for both Mountaineer Minnig and J.Gatarz & Sons, he was known throughout the paving industry for delivering pristine, high-quality results that reflected his pride and dedication.
Jere enjoyed taking scenic drives, surfing, and riding his bicycle around Seaside, especially appreciating the ocean air and the simple pleasure of being outdoors. He also loved a delicious meal and found joy in preparing meals to share with family and friends. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his loved ones. Whether in the kitchen, on the road, or by the shore, he had a way of making everyday moments feel special.
He is survived by his devoted and loving daughters, Gretchen Freund of Manchester and Heather Bean Marston, and her husband, Jolyon Marston of New Zealand; his former wife and longtime friend, Maryann Terebush, and her husband, Dan Terebush of Manchester.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Ben Freund and his beloved brother, Bob Freund.
Jere will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life, honoring his love of the beach and the peace he found there, will be held when the weather gets warmer.
Donations can be made, in his honor, to his favorite charity St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (Stjude.com).
