The Philadelphia Eagles lost a superfan on Friday, October 23, 2026, when Kathleen “Katie” McGinty, 73, of Manchester, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her chosen family and loving friends.
Katie was born on February 26, 1953, in Narberth, Pennsylvania. She attended Mater Misericordiae High School (Merion Mercy Academy) and Saint Joseph’s University, and earned her master’s degree from Montclair State University.
Katie devoted her career to serving and empowering others. She began in industrial food service and cafeteria management, building a successful leadership career with organizations including Stouffer’s, Marriott, Honeywell, and the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. She later channeled her experience into a new venture of her own, establishing a professional life coaching business specializing in career transitions and mid-career success.
Through her work, Katie assisted hundreds of people, from recent college graduates to adults navigating unexpected career changes. She encouraged her clients to recognize their strengths, appreciate their unique talents, and envision themselves succeeding in established careers or embarking on entirely new ventures. She approached each person with warmth, respect, and an unwavering belief in their potential, often helping them discover gifts they had not yet recognized in themselves.
Katie made friends easily and loved bringing people together. Her bright blue eyes and welcoming smile could light up a room, and her home was a gathering place for dinner parties and her much-anticipated annual Kentucky Derby celebration, where strangers became friends. Mornings and evenings often included calls and check-ins with the people she loved, including her dear friend Anne.
A world traveler with a particular fondness for Ireland and Aruba, Katie was also an inveterate cruiser. Even high winds and rocky seas—including an encounter with the “Perfect Storm”—could not diminish her adventurous spirit. She shared a long and loving companionship with Jerry, with whom she attended Marine Corps Balls and special Marine tours of Washington, D.C.
Family held a special place in Katie’s heart. Her love for her parents extended to her aunts and uncles, particularly her Aunt Edith, her father’s sister, and “Aunt” Donna, her mother’s best friend. Katie shared a particularly close bond with her brother Mike, delighting in his quirky sense of humor and impressive dancing skills.
Katie’s love of Bichon Frisé dogs brought Mollie, Meggie, and Rosie into her home and heart. Her affection for animals was a natural extension of the kindness and care she showed throughout her life.
Katie leaves behind a cherished circle of friends who were family in every way: Agnes, Patti, Nancy, Vicki, Mary, Nick, and John Finnegan. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Rosemary and Bill; her brother, Mike; her dear friend, Anne; and her life companion, Jerry.
Katie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, adventurous spirit, infectious smile, and extraordinary ability to bring people together and help them see the best in themselves. Her influence lives on in the many lives she touched, the friendships she nurtured, and the people she inspired to find their own paths forward.
A visitation for Kathleen will be held at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home on Monday, November 2nd, 2026, from 9am to 10:30 am. Immediate following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St John's Church, 619 Chestnut Street, lakehurst, Manchester, New Jersey at 11 am . Burial will take place at 1:00pm at Calvary Cemetery, 2025 Old Gulph Rd, Villanova, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in memory Kathleen to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Stjude.org).
