Mary E. Graffeo

Mary E. Graffeo, 87, of Manchester, NJ, passed away at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford, NJ. Born in Shamokin, PA, she spent her childhood in Trevorton, PA. After high school Mary joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps and did her nursing internship at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Brooklyn NY in 1944. In 1947 she worked in Halloran Veterans Hospital in Staten Island, NY and then moved to Brooklyn, NY. She returned to St. Catherine’s Hospital and worked in the Maternity Dept. until 1950. She met and married Dr. Louis W. Graffeo. She had two children and managed Dr. Graffeo’s OB/GYN office practice in Forest Hills, NY until he retired in 1986. They then moved to Manchester and spent their time living between Leisure Knoll and Top of the World senior community in Clearwater, FL. Mary was a member of the Leisure Knoll Garden and Travel Clubs.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Louis W. Graffeo, Sr. (2001), and her three brothers John R. Miller, Ralph G. Miller, Robert T. Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Oleksy and her husband Frank, of Suffern, NY, and Louis W. Graffeo, Jr. and his wife Zandra of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Her grandchildren, Mary Oleksy of CA, Christine Oleksy of NY, Mark Oleksy of NJ, Captain Louis W. Graffeo, III and his wife Jessica of FL, and Brett Graffeo of NJ, and his great grandson, Louis W. Graffeo, IV of FL.

Visitation will be held on Monday June 25, at the Anderson & Campbell, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am, on Tuesday June 26, at Saint John’s Church, 619 Chestnut Street, Lakehurst, NJ 08733. Entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ.
