

Paul Joseph Nixon, 97, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Born in Paterson, NJ, Paul was a graduate of William Paterson College. He was a teacher for Passaic Valley Regional High School for 30 years, and also served for a time as Assistant Principal.
An Army veteran of WWII, he was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.Paul was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Nellie in 1997, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is survived by a nephew, Roger Gilmore and his wife Marge of Southampton; and nieces Jean O'Brien, her husband Charles, and their children Timothy, Michael and Kathleen of Franklin Lakes and Doris Murphy and daughter Jennifer of Anaheim, CA; three adopted grandsons, Connor and Devin Walby of Keansburg and Sean Walby of Union Beach; their parents, Terry Walby of Keansburg and Eric Walby of Hopewell; and his dear companion Rae Tutela of Bradley Beach, along with countless theatre friends. Following his retirement in 1982, Paul became a well-known figure on New Jersey stages, acting in dozens of local productions. In 2005, he was honored with a Perry Award for Best Actor by the New Jersey Association of Community Theatres for his performance in Visiting Mr. Green. He remained active, appearing just last year in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Ocean County College.
Private services will be held under the direction of Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Manchester, NJ. In lieu of flowers, go out and support your local theater by seeing a show. He would like that.
