Richard T. Claeys

Richard T. Claeys, 89, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born on November 1, 1936, in Paterson, NJ, where he grew up and met his high school sweetheart, Angela. After he and Angela married at Saint Anthony's Church and started to raise their family, they moved to Hawthorne. After retirement, they moved to the Renaissance development in Manchester, NJ, over 20 years ago.

Rich loved playing golf and would sometimes play 5 times a week. He was also an avid bowler, grew amazing tomatoes, tending to his gardens and enjoyed watching the Yankees and the Giants, especially with a nice Absolut and cranberry in his hand. But what Rich loved the most was spending time with his family.

Rich is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Angela, his loving daughters; Patricia Stapleton and her husband Scott and Lynn Claeys, his cherished grandchildren Michael, Brian, Thomas IV, Brittany, and Angela, great grandchildren; Abigail, Gabriella, Catherine, Leo and Thomas V, and his dear brother, Robert L. Claeys.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Rose Ellen Claeys and his sister and brother, Patricia Claeys and Charles Claeys.

Cremation will be private and the family will celebrate Rich's life with a family dinner at a later date.
