Richard Staiger was born on September 11, 1947 and passed away May 18, 2024. He was the son of late Charles Staiger and Rita Staiger, and brother to his surviving siblings, Charles Staiger and Roseann Fury, as well as a treasured uncle to all of his nieces and nephews.
Richard's life is not defined by a profession, or a family, but rather by his vibrant creativity and the kindness he bestowed on others.
He spent his childhood growing up in North Jersey playing games outside with all of his friends. As an adult, Richard dedicated himself to working hard at a steel printing press to help take care of his family, until it closed. He spent the rest of his life working in various professions from union laborer, to retail worker.
Richard enjoyed a life lead by music and creativity when he was not working. He was a dreamer, traveling wherever his heart called him, while he wrote his own songs and learned to play instruments including: the saxophone, keyboard, pedal steel guitar, harmonica, and accordion. With a passion for 50's and 60's rock & roll, country, blues, and gospel, he was always jotting down lyrics and singing a tune or playing a note. This passion carried him through life with a light heart, kind to everyone around him, and a friend to anyone who would sit and listen to his stories and dreams or share their stories and dreams.
While Richard never married, or had children of his own, he was an amazing uncle to all of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to his friends and family, and for the fun he brought into all of our lives. Even when he was ill, he was always laughing, and always trying to cheer up someone else from a hard day, or a bad mood.
Richard was a dedicated son, strong brother, joyful uncle, a kind friend, a dreamer, a musician, a Giants fan, a lover of food, and a simple man who will be remembered for his positivity and the love he gifted to everyone around him.
