Rocco J. Perillo

May 28, 1957April 2, 2019

Rocco “Rocky” Joseph Perillo, 61, of Howell, NJ passed away Tuesday April 2, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold surrounded by his loving family. Born in Naples, Italy Rocky had lived in Newark, Bloomfield and Barnegat before settling down in Howell 26 years ago. For the past 40+ years he had worked as a General Merchandising Manager for Pathmark and more recently for the ACME in Wall Township, NJ. Truth be told, that if you had the opportunity to know Rocky you loved him, from his family to his work family there was no one better. Rocky touched the lives of every person he had met, again whether it was a coworker, neighbor or even his Pathmark girlfriends who nicknamed him “Sexy” he was loved by all. He enjoyed watching Car Racing, going to the Beach, spending time with his family especially his best friend and wife Cindy and most recently his grandchildren who adored their grandpa. Rocky always had a watchful eye for his brothers and Frank will forever be grateful for that. The relationships he built with family were like no other, His mother-in-law and daughter-in-law never felt like an in law always considered him either son or her just daughter, but not to be mistaken because there is only one favorite girl and that was his daughter, Daddy’s Girl! Rocky is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Cindy (Reynolds), his parents, Donato and Olinda Perillo, his children, Rocky and his wife Yoli, Ryan, Zachary and Ashley, his adoring grandchildren Carter and Connor, his siblings, Pat Perillo and his wife Diane, Frank Perillo and his wife Martha and Anna Perillo, his mother-in-law Ruth Reynolds, sister and brother in law Debbie and Mike Golomb, brother and sister in law, Carl and Sherry Reynolds, two nieces, Heather Reynolds and Christine Perillo and his four nephews, Don Perillo, Dominic Perillo, Tyler Golomb and Shawn Reynolds and two great nephews, Anthony and Glen and a great niece Makenzie. In lieu of flowers donations in Rocco’s name can be made to either Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research www.lustgarten.org or CentraState Healthcare Foundation www.centrastatefoundation.org.

On a personal note the family of Rocco would like to express the deepest gratitude to the Nurses and Staff at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold for the unimaginable care they gave to Rocco, especially the Nurses of 4 North and CCU.

As I watched all the friends and family come to show their love and respect for Rocky, a song lyric came to mind..
" There is a light that never goes out"
That's Rocky , this life or the next.

Dear Perillo Family,
We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Rocco’s passing. We cannot express how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to get to know the Perillo family over the years.
Even during the most mundane of daily activities like coming home from work, getting the mail, etc., Rocco always greeted us with a huge smile, enthusiastic wave and warmest “Hello!”.
I will never forget how excited he was to congratulate Michael and I on our wedding day & couldn’t wait to hear about the birth of our daughter, Olivia.
The Perillo family has always been extremely warm and caring. Thank you for being the best neighbors we ever could’ve hoped for.
An incredibly bright light has gone out. This life will not be the same without Rocco Perillo. We will miss him dearly.
Please know, we are here for you all in whatever way we can be.
Lots of love & hugs,
Eileen, Michael &

Roc,
We spent a lot of time together when we were young. With school, lived together, enjoyed our families together. You were the best one hand, one eyed camera man. And as you would say those 3H summer days: Hazy , Hot, and Muggie! I am blessed to have known you and spent good times together. I will miss you.

Sincerely,
John Schomaker

Rocky,

What can I say! There are so many happy memories we shared. You were always there for me, as you were for everyone. The times John and I had with you were always special. You made me laugh all the time. You were one of the most giving people I knew. We still talk about the funny things you would say, "what are we doing with all those junk-o-bowls", "It's the 3 H's today, Hazy, Hot and Muggy, and the funny way you took videos with your left eye. You were such a good father to your children and a very special grandpa. As a brother-in law, you were more like the brother I never had.

You were loved by anyone that knew you; you had such a kind heart; My heart aches for your family and anyone that knew you.
Heaven has gained another angel. I am sure you will watch over us, just as you did when you were here with us.
You will always be forever in my heart,.

“A father holds his daughters hand for a short while, but holds her heart forever.” Dad, I was lucky enough to be your daughter, your only daughter; and yes I would remind you and everyone else (especially my 3 brothers) of that fact over and over again. Being so young when you and mom divorced i’ll admit it was hard to keep a genuine relationship, but you and I made it work. We had our differences, we had minor falling outs, but we never gave up on each other. The love between a father and daughter is unbreakable and we are the prime example of that. You were the type of person who would uproot your day or even your life to make sure everyone else was taken care of first. I always wished I was strong like you, but now it’s time for you to rest and take care of yourself. You deserve it... these past few years we have grown closer than ever and I am just so thankful for that, that we had these past few years (and of course many more) of happy memories for me to help keep you alive. Whether those memories be about you always taking me to Freehold mall when I was little to ride the carousel even though it made you dizzy every time, or more recently when you helped Eric and I (your favorite future son-in-law) move into our apartment and he and his dad almost pushed you off the stairs when you guy were carrying the couch up. But, everyone knows my new favorite is when we had you over to dinner not even a month ago and all you did was complain that there wasn’t enough food and that our light bulbs over the table were too bright. You made even the smallest moments memorable... I could go on forever but, you need your rest. Just know that I love you so much and miss you deeply.
Love Always, Your Favorite Daughter xo

Rock, you would walk into my office, take a look at my face and ask me if he needed to “put on the collar”? You were always there for me to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on. It’s hard to believe we weaved in and out of each other’s lives for 40 years at Pathmark. But the one thing I’m grateful for is my last store the one I retired from, you were there. I still always think of you as I shop a nonfoods aisle in any supermarket I go in, looking at the way they do things compared to the great way you did it. You were a mentor, a leader, a team player, a loving family man, and a Great friend.
Rest easy, love you always,
Diane
