surrounded by his family on December 23, 2012 at Community Medical
Center, Toms River. Trevor was the second child born to George Martin
and Twayla Torney-Harris on April 22, 1996 at Kimball Medical Center.
Trevor attended Lakewood public school until 6th grade, when his
family relocated to Manchester. Trevor was a gifted athlete, and began
playing soccer and football at age 6, but his true love was
basketball. He played AAU basketball for Team HEAT, JSL and Team MVP
as well as the Varsity Team at Manchester High School, where he was a
recipient of the varsity letter. He also played freshman football but
was most known for his contributions as a shooting guard and small
forward for the Manchester Hawks.
Trevor was not just a talented athlete, he truly loved being a team
player. When not actively playing sports, he could be found wearing
his Oklahoma City Thunder gear or listening to music. He touched the
lives of all who knew him with his easy-going ways and pleasant
demeanor. He loved to make people laugh, and his humor was only
surpassed by his love for family and friends. Whether swiping french
fries from his friends at the lunch table or playing 2K13, all who met
him immediately LOVED him.
Trevor was known for his quick wit and his ability to make people
laugh even in the most difficult situations. Throughout his illness,
he maintained a positive outlook, and never wanted to see his family
sad. He encouraged all those around him to accept this challenge with
dignity and courage. In fact, he enjoyed joking with his family,
friends, doctors and nurses during his stay at the Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia.
Trevor accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as a young child, and was a member of the Evangelical
Temple of the Apostolic Faith, Lakewood, and The Church of Grace and
Peace, Toms River. He remained a light in the lives of everyone who
knew him, and inspired many with his courage, love and wisdom far
beyond his years.
Trevor was predeceased by his grandfather, George Martin and his aunt,
Janice Martin.
Trevor is survived by his loving family, his mother and stepfather,
Twayla and Michael Harris, Manchester; father and stepmother, George
and Yolanda Martin, Neptune; brothers and sisters, Quasim, Chantal,
Tyler, Pierre, Tyria, Lendell, Dale, Shatoya, Michael, James and
Bryana; maternal grandparents, Bishop Michael and First Lady, Joyce
Torney; his paternal grandmother, Ella Martin; and a host of uncles,
aunts, nieces, nephews cousins, and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 am, followed by funeral
services from 10 to 11am on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Church of Grace
and Peace, 1563 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River. Burial will immediately
follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Rd., Toms River.
