
Alice Isabel Bright Lucas, 92, of Mansfield died May 24, 2001 at Mansfield Memorial Homes after an extended illness. She was born June 11, 1908, in Strasburg, Ohio to the Rev. George S. Bright and Mary Bergstresser Bright. She lived most of her life in Richland County. Her father was pastor of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Lucas, Ohio and she spent her early childhood years there. She graduated in 1927 from Lucas High School. She was active in many sports including: basketball, softball, golf, bowling and tennis. She was proud to have played the marimba in Ned Albright's Marimba Band. Mrs. Lucas was a former employee of Smith's Dairy Products in Orville, Ohio, and participated in making the very first Eskimo Pie ice cream treats. She was also employed by Westinghouse Corp and later spent her time as a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki M. Lucas and James C. Ingold of Mansfield; her little dog, Bonnie; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley D. Lucas in 1969; two sisters, Mary Snyder and Ruth Lollar; and eight brothers, George, John E., Martin L., Paul B., Philip S., Joseph, Gene D. and James Andrew Bright.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26. Dr. Walter Schumann will conduct graveside services at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lucas, Ohio.
