Alice Wilfong

Alice May Blamble Wilfong, 71, of Illinois Avenue died early Tuesday morning September 4, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield following a brief illness. Mrs. Wilfong was born August 27, 1930 in Stow, Ohio residing in the Mansfield area for the past 53 years. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene where she was the Nursery Director and very active in mission work. She retired from Madison Local School as Head Custodian after 25 ½ years of service. Mrs. Wilfong was a Cleveland Indians Fan and enjoyed traveling. She was a loving person who crocheted a special afghan for each grandchild and great-grandchild upon each birth.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence Dewane Jr. and Melinda Wilfong of Mansfield; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Ann and Mike Hindman and Esther Louise and Don Phillips, all of Mansfield, and Joyce and Scott Temme of Lima, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Scott, Tim and Kim Neff, Tanya Martin, Matthew Wilfong, Tiffany Ricker, Tennille Temme, Diana, Nicholas, and Luke Phillips; eight great-grandchildren, Emily and Kaleb Neff, Joshua and Tiffany Wilfong, Jennie Martin, Tyler Ricker, Kristin Goodwin, and Tryston Phillips; two sisters, Mildred Russell and Mary Trusso; two brothers, Albert and Ed Blamble; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Evelyn Wilfong; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Edward and Zina Ann Blamble; her husband, Lawrence Wilfong, who died August 17, 2001; one grandson, Kevin Michael Phillips; and two sisters, Florence Blamble and Evelyn Burris.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday September 6, 2001 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 7, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Church of the Nazarene conducted by Rev. Matt Nigh and Rev. Kenneth Donley. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or to the Grace Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
