
Amy Susan Cowger Robinson, formerly of Hacker Valley, West Virginia, died May 15, 2006, in Mansfield at the home of her grandson, Hartsel Lee Robinson, Jr. She had made her home with her grandson since 1994 following the death of her husband, Glen Robinson. Born September 22, 1918, in Hacker Valley, West Virginia, she was the daughter of George W. and Martha Jane Ware Cowger. She was an active member of Hodam Creek Methodist Church until it discontinued services. Mrs. Robinson retired after 26 years of service from Holly River State Park. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, word search and peeling apples for making applesauce. She was a wonderful loving wife, mom, and grandma, not only to her own family but also to many of her friends and neighbors, who also called her 'Mom' and 'Grandma'. She always put the needs of others before her own.
Surviving are two sons, Hartsel Kay Robinson of Mansfield and Bradford Debora Robinson of Elkins, WV; daughter, Loretta June Gene Simmons of Mansfield; five grandsons, Hartsel Lee Robinson Jr. fiancée, Debra Magers, Ronald Rhonda Robinson, Rodney Simmons, all of Mansfield, Rob Karla Robinson of Marlington, WV, and Brandon Robinson of Elkins, WV; two granddaughters, Babette Scott Denman of Mansfield and Jennifer Michael Parker of Elkins, WV; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Pearl Virgil Wolf of Mansfield, Annalee Cowger of St. Mary's, OH, Dorothy Lane of Montgomery, WV, Lavonne Tina Cowger of Hacker Valley, WV, and Ania Cowger of Buckhannon, WV; a nephew, Ken Roode of Loveland, CO; a niece, Thelma Cluck of Austin, TX, who made their home with her, following the death of their mother and grandmother; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Norma Lee Robinson, infant son, Delmas Robinson, grandson, Steven Glen Simmons, brothers, James, Emerson, Lawrence, and Hubert Cowger and sisters, Hettie and Ida Cowger, Esta Doddrill and Elizabeth Roode.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, May 17 from 6-8 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held Thursday, May 18 from 6-9 p.m. at the Dodd Reed Funeral Home in West Virginia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Dodd Reed Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hodam Creek Cemetery.
