Angela De La Cruz Edwards, a beautiful woman inside and out, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the age of 49. Born between Christmas and New Year's on December 30, 1967, Angie brought much joy, laughter and hope to her family and was destined to lead an exciting and purposeful life. Being one of four children, and known as the peacekeeper, she knew it was important to solve differences and work together to achieve harmony in your family.
Angie graduated from Clearfork High School in 1986. Her light shone brightly from the very beginning and everyone who knew her knew Angie was someone special. She had a heart for helping others and her devotion to the citizens of Mansfield was evident. She served the community from 1989 when she began her career as a dispatcher for Mansfield Fire Department. Angie then moved to the Mansfield Police Department and served as their dispatcher for many years. From 2001-2007, she was an integral part of the Mansfield Crime Lab where her diligent work ethic provided answers for so many questions. In 2007, she was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a stay-at-home mother to her son, whom she affectionately called "Mommy's heart". She lived each and every day for him and cherished the special moments they created together.
She loved photography and had an artist's eye for knowing how to capture that perfect moment. This artsy style carried over to her love of jewelry and she collected many unique pieces over the years, all special to her. Angela's sense of adventure included travel to many international destinations where she soaked up the culture and people of each unique region. Her heart was full of love for not only people, but also animals. She respected the qualities each different animal brings to the universe. Angela's life also had a comedian's slant to it. She loved laughing and especially enjoyed playing practical jokes on those she was around. If you got pranked, consider yourself special, because she only would bestow this special talent on those she cared about most.
She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived her life treating people with dignity, respect and love. Being a good mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend were goals she worked every day to achieve. Her spirit remains with everyone who was lucky enough to have Angela in their life.
Angela is survived by her husband of 11 years, Alan Edwards; her beloved son, Christian Edwards; wonderful parents, Douglas and Cindy Edwards; and three loving siblings, Kathy Didyk, Steve (Robin) Edwards and Spencer Edwards. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Joyce Edwards; nieces and nephews, Caitlin Price, Kelsey Price, Haley Stybel, Kendra Hawk, and Jenessa Edwards; a brother-in-law, Andrew (Trisha) Edwards; a step daughter, Minna Edwards; and a step grandchild, Braison Edwards. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
A gathering to celebrate Angie's extraordinary life will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in the Life Celebration Reception Center, 129 S. Main St., Mansfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help make Angie's dreams for her son a reality through an account at Directions Credit Union-Christian Edwards OTMA.
Fly high sweet angel. We will know you are watching over us when we see the sparkle of the stars in the sky. They epitomize the wonder and gift of your life.
The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to assist in honoring the life of Angie Edwards.
