Angeline Arnold Silver, 101, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2025, at Arbors at Mifflin. Born in Mansfield on July 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Minnie Kaler, who emigrated from Athens, Greece. Angie grew up surrounded by the warmth, faith, and traditions of her Greek neighborhood.
As a young woman, Angie met her first husband, Irvin Arnold, at a roller-skating rink. During World War II, Irvin served in the Pacific Theater. They began their married life in an Army barracks in Mansfield before Irvin went on to work for Westinghouse. Angie held several jobs throughout her life, including serving as a clerk and elevator operator at a local department store and later working at Thermo-Disc. Together, she and Irvin raised one son, who went on to become a teacher. After Irvin’s passing, Angie found companionship again when she met her second husband, Al Silver, at a dance. Al was an energetic spirit—selling tires, racing cars, and enjoying life at his lake home in Akron. Their ten years together were filled with devotion, and Angie lovingly cared for him until his passing.
In later years, Angie embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She traveled widely, enjoying cruises to Europe, England, and the Caribbean, where she made many cherished friends. In her youth, she had been an accomplished dancer, winning contests during the World War II era—joyful memories she often shared. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. She was actively involved in her church and taught Sunday School at Woodville Grace Brethren Church, where her gentle spirit and kindness touched many.
Angie is survived by her son, Max (Cynthia) Arnold; her significant other of many years, Len Grimsley; nephew, Nick (Patti) Kaler; niece, Becky Langley; great-niece, Jessica Langley; and great-nephew, Joe Langley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Pete Kaler; her first husband, Irvin Arnold; her second husband, Al Silver; and her niece, Cheryl Lambert.
Friends and family will gather Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Mansfield. A memorial service celebrating the life of Angie will begin at 2:00 PM.
Angie lived a long and beautiful life, guided by simple yet profound beliefs. Her suggestions for a happy life were: always have a smile on your face and a sparkle in your eyes; treat others kindly and let them know you love them; don’t argue or worry—simply trust in God. She often shared how much she looked forward to heaven, and those who love her take comfort knowing she is at peace.
