

Anita L. Hayden, 82, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Grant Medical Center. Born August 18, 1929 in South Portsmouth, KY, she was the daughter of Herbert R. and Lillian R. (Hawthorne) Cooper. A homemaker, Anita enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and listening to country music. Most of all, she loved taking care of her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Stella Phelps and Suzella (John) Smollen, both of Mansfield, and Vickie (Fred) Kirst of Woodstock, IL; grandchildren, Talisa, Jason, Donavon, Anita, Margaret, and Gretchen; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Vera Jane (Sam) Bennett of Port Charlotte, FL; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Harold Wilson of North Carolina; and sister-in-law, Wilma (John) Toney of West Virginia. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Hayden; daughter and son-in-law, Vera Ellen and Octave Collard; sister, Donna Wilson; son-in-law, Tom Phelps; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Winford and Nita Hayden.
It was Anita’s wishes to be cremated and to be buried with her husband in Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Anita L. Hayden.
