Born July 2, 1938, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Cuba (Porter) Secrist. Anita dedicated 35 years of her life to serving the community through her work at Empire Affiliates Credit Union, now known as Directions Credit Union. Known for her warmth, reliability, and professionalism, she built lasting relationships with colleagues and members alike.
In her free time, Anita enjoyed sewing—creating beautiful, hand-crafted pieces that reflected her care and creativity. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Joe Penrose, Rod (Jan) Penrose, and Melody Sherman; grandchildren, Adam Penrose and Rachel Penrose; sisters, Mary (Terry) Shoemaker and Rita (Marlon) Hamilton; nieces, Rebecca Hoff and Debbie Thompson; and cousin, Pat Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loi Penrose, and her brother, David Secrist.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 AM at Mansfield Cemetery.
