

Archie B. Smith, 76, of Mansfield, died Monday, June 14, 2004. He went to his eternal rest following an extended illness. Archie was born March 6, 1928, in Mansfield, Ohio to Robert and Mae Langford Smith. He retired in 1990 after 30 years of service with General Motors and was also a long time employee with the City of Mansfield. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed breeding and caring for canines along with being a member of the National Kennel Club. Archie was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Mansfield National Guard.
He is survived by eight daughters, Ann King of Mansfield, Minnie King of Sacramento, California, Mary McAllister of Mansfield, Aurelie Smith of Detroit, Michigan, Cathella Kenneth Tye, Ismar Dennis Ramsey, both of Mansfield, Arcine Poole of Ft. Washington, Maryland and Mada Smith of Virginia; six sons, Archie Jane Smith, Jeffrey Smith both of Mansfield, Henry Smith of Detroit, Tawn Smith, of Mansfield, Artius Corrine Smith of Marietta, Georgia, and Jahime Smith of Mansfield; a special granddaughter Annine Smith; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to mention; Aunts, Cathella Brown and Rachael Smith both of California; and special friends; Bob Saucer, Amy M., Jessica, Antwan, and Wilma Smith. Archie was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Smith, son, Godfrey 'Butch' King and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home one-hour prior to the service with military graveside services to follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
