Barbara Anne Perkins, 63, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born September 25, 1947 in Mansfield, she is the daughter of the late Dorothy Cairns and Robert S. Kern. Barb graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1966. When she was young, she worked at Kern Cigar Company, a Mansfield business owned by her father. Due to health issues, she was unable to continue her employment. As her illness progressed, Barb moved to Griffeth Nursing Home. In 1991, she went to Crystal Care Center where she was very happy and the staff became her family. Barb was loved and cared for by everyone.
She is survived by two brothers, Jack and David Kern.
The family would like to express their appreciation of the nurses and doctors for the outstanding care Barb received at MedCentral.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to MedCentral Hospice.
