
Beatrice "Bea" Vivian Thacker, 82, of Mansfield, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at her home. Born June 13, 1927 in Thor, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Reuben J. and Laura K. Stafford Bloomfield. In 1989, Beatrice retired from Olivet Nazarene University as the facility engineer and had also worked at Head Start as the kitchen manager. She was a member of the Lexington Nazarene Church. Beatrice was an avid reader and Cleveland Indians fan. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family. Beatrice's family and friends will miss her jellies, jams and apple butter.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ernest W. Thacker, Sr., whom she married November 14, 1945; four children and their spouses, Rosella Kaye and Larry Frazier of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Lois and Darrell Bellomy of Sparta, Tennessee, Ernest W. and Janet Thacker, Jr., Myron and Diane Thacker, all of Mansfield; stepdaughter and her spouse, Diane and John Bevan of England; twenty grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Hamilton of Indianapolis, Indiana and Faye and Fred Jr. Blankenship of Nevada, Ohio; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Estille and Mabel Bloomfield of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Alton and Janet Bloomfield of Chillicothe, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Michael Thacker; two sisters, Dorothy Hamilton and Millie Fannin; and one brother, Walter Bloomfield.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Dr. Keith Grove, Rev. Phil Green and Rev. Adam Risher officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
