
Bethel Skaggs Flannery, 92, of Mansfield, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at her home. Born June 9, 1915, in Ibex, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Sol and Julia Oakley Skaggs. She retired as a housekeeper with MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was a member of Cook Road Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church and reading the Bible. Bethel was a devoted family woman who enjoyed gardening and playing 'Aggravation' with her family and friends.
She is survived by five children, Audrey Paul Fannin of Spring Lake, NC, Leah Jean J.H. Simmons, Lois Alvin Turner and Rhonda Rhodes, all of Mansfield, and Virginia Ted Owens of Hartsville, TN; daughter-in-law, Christina Flannery; former daughter-in-law, Arlene Duncan of Shelby; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Clayton Flannery; sons, Clayton, Jr. and Ray Flannery; son-in-law, David Wallace; a granddaughter, Teresa Simmons; and two great-grandchildren, Meagan and Chandler Davis Brauchler.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Saturday, October 6 from 3-6 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Jack Tackett and Rev. Jack Hackworth will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Cook Road Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
