Betty was loved by all for her willing spirit to do anything that was asked of her. She truly had a servant's heart and loved being active in her church, St. Timothy Lutheran in Mansfield. She was an avid reader of the Bible her entire life. She enjoyed her long daily walks, being in nature and appreciating everything God made beautiful around us. Betty was always kind and never complained even though she sometimes had reason to. Throughout whatever trial, she never lost her wonderful sense of humor and was an inspiration to everyone around her. Betty didn't just live life, she loved life.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (Mary) Charles of Fishers, IN; three daughters, Marilyn J. Bender, Lynda (Rodger) Davis, both of Mansfield, and Debra Roller of Columbus; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and a niece, Nancy Moore of Mansfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Foye "F.T." Charles and a brother, Donald Wood.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Contributions in memory of the exceptional life Betty enjoyed may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or St. Timothy Lutheran Church.
