Betty J. Hummel, 94, of Ashland, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at The Good Shepherd in Ashland. Born May 1, 1921 in Nankin, Ohio she was the daughter of Jacob and Lena Belle (Streit) Koppler.A homemaker, she was a self sufficient woman and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed gardening and canning and freezing her rewards.She is survived by her children, Lawrence (Shirley) Hummel of Mesa, Arizona, Barbara (Leslie) Danals of Clearwater, Florida and Tommy (Debra) Hummel of New Port Richey, Florida; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a loving sister, Annabelle Canfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hummel; a son, Douglas Hummel; two brothers; and five sisters.There will be no calling hours or services at this time.
