
Betty Bets D. Risser, 85, died Friday, February 11, 2005. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, January 19. 1920, Bets was a resident of Mansfield for more than sixty years. She was an active leader and member in a variety of community activities. Her volunteer service included past presidency of the Mansfield YWCA; a founding board member of The Women's Fund; moderator of the Board of Trustees and past president of Women's Fellowship of the First Congregational Church; board member of the North Central Ohio chapter of Planned Parenthood; and a development associate for the United Way. Bets was also a member of Nomad's for forty years. She was an avid reader, golfer, tennis player and duplicate bridge player.
Bets is survived by her sister, Mary D. Kinkade, of Ada, Minnesota; her sons, Richard D. and Robert C. Risser, of Mansfield; her daughter, Jane A., of Palo Alto, California; and her grandsons, Stephen M. Risser of Mansfield, and Rafael A., Matthew A., and Martin G. Solari of Palo Alto, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Risser.
A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Road, Mansfield on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to The Betty D. Risser Fund, in care of The Richland County Foundation, 24 West Third Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family.
