
Betty J. Scott, 92, of Mansfield, died January 6, 2007. Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday evening. She was born July 15, 1914, in Mansfield to John E. and Elsie E. Ewald Hart. Betty was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and Pithian Sisters. She was a member of Dolly Madison and the Bunko Club. A collector of angels, Betty was extremely proud of the legacy left behind by her husband and son, both serving as mayor of Mansfield. She was a part of their inauguration, holding the Bible when they were sworn into office. Betty will be remembered for her faith and strong will through difficult times, inspiring her family and friends with her spirit. Many in the area will remember the wonderful Christmas lights on display at her home.
She is survived by a son, John Janice E. Scott of Mansfield; two daughters, Ronna Letizia of Mansfield and Beverly Robert Baker of Newark; nine grandchildren, Charles H. 'Trâ' Melissa Scott III of Knoxville, TN, Heather Ron Gulla of Louisville, KY, Jessica Jonah Hensey of Newark, Lindsay Letizia Kenneth Parks of Mansfield, Jason Letizia of Panama City, FL, Jodi Dan Flack of Beaufort, SC, Jami Letizia of Columbus, Christopher Scott and Kelly Scott, both of Mansfield; eleven great-grandchildren, Noah, Zachary, Ethan, Dillon, Connor, Claudia, Truman, Spencer, Ansley, Maggie and Nick; a sister-in-law, Bertha Scott of Mansfield; three nieces, Pat, Martha Bunfil, and Carolyn Majestic; and three nephews, Bud Baumhauer, Lee Au, and Terry Au. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mayor Charles H. Scott, son, Mayor Charles H. Scott, Jr., daughter, Carol Ann Scott, granddaughter, Kimberlee Scott, and her parents.
Friends may call Thursday, January 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor George Reece officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Foursquare Gospel Church or the American Cancer Society.
