

Beverly 'Joan' Etzel, 60, of 146 Stewart Avenue, recently making her home with her daughter and son-in-law at 717 Maple Street, died Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield after a five month illness with cancer. Mrs. Etzel was born June 22, 1942 in Galion, Ohio living in the Mansfield area all of her life. She had been employed with Mansfield General and more recently with Sprint as an operator. Beverly was a 1960 graduate of Galion High School. She was a faithful member of The Church in Mansfield. She thoroughly loved the Bible and spending time with the Lord. Her home was always open for care and spiritual guidance. Through her living, she was a positive pattern to those around her. She was 'mom' to many and a loving mother and grandmother. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She was very patriotic and enjoyed walking at Kingwood Center.
She is survived by four children, Shelly & Ben Flieger of Mansfield, Steven Etzel of Mansfield, Cindy & Rik Leistiko of Las Vegas, Nevada and David & Elisabeth Etzel of Mansfield; three grandchildren, Jordan and Ryan Etzel of Mansfield and Michelle Beardsley of Las Vegas; a sister, Jean Mitchell of Mansfield; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Janet Stillings of Big Bear City, California; 13 nieces and nephews; and childhood friend, Kathy Knapp of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert C. & Dorothy M. Alley Stillings; and her husband, Edward Etzel.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 5-9 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral services to be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by The Church in Mansfield. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
