Bill Bays

Bill F. Bays, 70, of 410 Topaz Ave. died Wednesday morning January 26, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness.  Mr. Bays was born August 10, 1929 in Hindman, Kentucky living in the Mansfield area since 1949.  He was retired from Empire Reeves Steel Corporation.  Mr. Bays was a member of Bowman Street Church of God and served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy A. Elliott Bays; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy L. & Teresa Bays, Chris Bays, and Timothy & Rhonda Bays, all of Mansfield; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Zula Irene 'Dunnie' Sword of McRoberts, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher C. & Azzie Stamper Bays; a son, Johnny; two brothers, Earl and John Bays; and three sisters, Opal Howard, Edna Taylor, and Mary Vaughn.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Wayne Castle.  Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery.
