

Bishop Richard Neal Aites Sr., 80, of Ontario, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Richard was born on December 2, 1937 in Cadogan, Pennsylvania to Bishop Carl and Alma (Wilson) Aites.
Richard was a United States Navy veteran, having served from 1954-1958 aboard both the USS Hancock and the USS Lexington in addition to being stationed 26 months in Japan. He retired from General Motors in Ontario where he was employed from 1961-1993. He married the love of his life, Judith Y. Reitler, on June 20, 1959 and they were blessed with 59 wonderful years of marriage. Richard was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather who loved his family very much. He loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. He pastored numerous churches throughout Ohio for forty years, and was currently pastoring at Abundant Grace Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Judith Y. Aites; children, Vickie L. Sutter, Pamela C. (Joe) Cline, Monessa Y. (Dean) Shifley, Richard N. (Susan) Aites Jr., and Kimberly S. (Mike) Markie; grandchildren, Rosa A. (Travis) Iraheta Minnear, Michelle L. (Carl) VanBibber, Christie M. Cline, Kristin E. (Joe) Gray, J. Seth (Brittany) Cline, Anissa R. Cline, Ashley B. Sutter, Kaleigh D. (Skyler) Markie, Lauren B. Shifley, Jared A. Markie, Jacob A. Markie, Hunter D. (Kersten) Shifley, Neal D. Aites, Ciara A. Cline, Sydney N. Aites, and Matthew T. Sutter; ten great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Veda M. (Wendell) Burdett, Nancy K. Aites, and Carol C. Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald E. and Virgil C. Aites; sister, Patty N. Aites; and two great-grandsons.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00-7:00 pm, on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Abundant Grace Fellowship Church of God of Prophecy, 1080 West Longview Avenue. The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm with an hour prior visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm. Rev. Lisa Atchison will officiate the service. Richard will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Aites family.
