She was born on January 8, 1937, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late John and Stella Mae Joseph. In one of her earliest stories, Bonnie survived the historic 1937 flood as an infant, safely floated by her parents in a peach crate—a story that would be shared for generations. She was raised in Mt. Sterling and graduated from Mt. Sterling High School.
Bonnie had a deep love for writing poetry and found beauty in words, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She had a remarkable green thumb and took pride in growing African violets and even avocado trees from seeds.
Her home was filled with warmth, especially during the holidays. Bonnie was known for her homemade meals, including her noodles made from scratch—traditions and memories that will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family. Holiday gatherings will never be the same without her presence.
Bonnie will be remembered for her creativity, resilience, nurturing spirit, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Carpenter and Tracey (Tim) Eagle; grandchildren, Wynter (Daniel Ferlan) Whiteside, Stella Whiteside, Dane (Alexis) Eagle, Dalton (Lexy Foster) Eagle, and Clayton (Grace) Eagle; great-grandchildren, Iaen Ferlan and Tate Eagle.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded by her brothers, David “Bud”, George, John, Marion, Kenny and Bobby; and her sisters, Genevieve, Norma, Mary and Helen.
The family will observe private services.
