Brenda Lynn Jessop

Brenda grew up in Jeromesville, Ohio and previously worked at the Flexible Bus Company and Ashland Chemical; she also owned Springmill Video. She married the love of her life, Fred Jessop, on June 14, 1975. Known as the family matriarch, Brenda took great care of her family. She dearly loved them, especially her grandchildren and welcomed many outsiders into her family. She was a fabulous cook and loved cooking for gatherings. A homemaker at heart, Brenda enjoyed sewing and making her own cornhole bags to sell. She loved spending the colder seasons in Florida. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church.

Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Jessop; mother, Helen Jean Bettac; children, Laurie (Tim) Myers, Heath “Buzz” Jessop, Carey (Ben) Perry and Debra Carver; brothers, Gary Bettac and Eric Ricer; 17 grandchildren, Amber Fraley, Timothy (Hollie) Slaton, Chelsea (Matt) Watts, Shelby (Cody) Sexton, Tristian Myers, Devin (Dusk) Jessop, Maria Keerstan Jessop, Kobin Jessop, Justin Jessop, Ben Perry Jr., Peyton Perry, Breydon Perry, Krystin (Steven) Mull, Drew (Megan) Vidonish and Katie (Mason) Hoskins; 24 great-grandchildren; special dog, Cricket; and lifelong friends, Linda House-Nethro, Karen Flickinger-Purdy, Rick Gannon and Gail Spade; and other cherished family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Ricer Jr.; step-father, Donald Bettac; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Jessop; brother-in-law, Dale (Ellen) Jessop; paternal-in-laws, Dale and Helena Jessop; and special friend, Judy Flickinger-Butler.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 230 S. Main St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. Following visitation, there will be a procession from the church to the cemetery where a graveside service will take place. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery. Continued food and fellowship will be held at the church following the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church.
