Burton Junior Ward, Jr., 85, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born October 14, 1924 in Mansfield, he was the son of Burton R. and Nolia Deems Ward. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in construction. Burton enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his dogs, Jack and Deke.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Ward; brothers, Forest, Robert, Carl, Glenn, and Willis; sisters, Helen Sanchez, Mae French, and Evelyn McCrea; two stepdaughters; and one step son.
Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by Pastor Paul Allen. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield.
