
Carl D. Estep, 65 of 1422 Frederick Court died February 27, 2001 at the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Estep bravely battled a year long illness with cancer, Carl passed away with his family by his side. He was born March 31, 1935 in Ashland, Kentucky, residing most of his adult life in the Mansfield area. He retired from Ideal Electric Company after 44 years of service and attended Community Baptist Bible Church. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post #16; 40 et 8; Amvets Post - Robert P. Spreng Post #26. Mr. Estep was a veteran of the United States Army. Carl enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Surviving are his wife whom he married November 1, 1990, Judy A. Caporini Estep of Mansfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Tracy Estep of Ashland, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Mark Gibson of Mansfield; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Estep of Shelby, Ohio; four step sons and one step daughter-in-law, Chuck and Mary Atherton; Mike Atherton; Doug Atherton; and Gino Caporini; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Estep of Ashland, Kentucky; and one sister, Annis Rucker of Ashland, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews including, Ken Estep. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Bessie Carter Estep; his first wife, Monnie Hill Estep; one son, Douglas Estep; one great-grandson, Tryston; six brothers, Harkless, Charles, William, Clyde, George and Dean Estep; and four sisters, Garnet, Ella, Eva Mae and Betty.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Randy Collins. Military graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Chapter of American Cancer Society.
