Carol Joy Hicks

Carol Joy Hicks, 84, of Mansfield, passed away early Thursday morning, February 14, 2019, at Wedgewood Estates. She was born April 27, 1934, in Andover, Ohio, to the late Carlton L. and Mabel F. (Landon) Shultz.

She always had a smile on her face and kind words for everyone. Carol loved singing and was a former member of the Sweet Adelines in Mount Vernon, Ohio and member of her church choir. She had a very giving spirit and was devoted to her family, serving as caregiver to both her sisters. Animals held a special place in her heart.

Carol is survived by her husband, Arthur Hicks; two stepsons, Daryl Hicks of Mount Vernon and Bill Hicks of KY; and five nephews, John (Pat) Buker of Lexington, KY, James (Julie) Buker of Ontario, Scott (Terri) Buker of Tampa, FL, Bo Kinghorn of Sydney, OH, and Scott Kinghorn of Columbus, OH. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Buker and Linda Kinghorn Hawkins.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
