Carol Smith

Carol Louise Cathers Smith, age 57, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 after an extended illness. She was born November 11, 1944 in Ashland, Ohio to Tomas and Esther L. Hestler Cathers and has resided in the Perrysville-Mansfield area all of her life.

Mrs. Smith was a home health care worker and was a member of the McElroy Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards and collecting ceramic cats.

Surviving are her husband, Gary Smith of Mansfield, Ohio; three sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Missy Breneman of Butler, Ohio, Michael Breneman and Gary Andrew Smith, both of Mansfield; one daughter, Rose Andrews of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Mae Breneman, Danielle Marie Breneman, Gregory Michael Lee, Brittney Nichole Breneman and Cody Allen Delashmitt; her mother, Esther L. Cathers of Scottsdale, AZ; a brother, Paul P. Cathers of Mansfield; three sisters and sons-in-law, Ota and Robert Sprague of Scottsdale, AZ, Ruth and Roger Barker of Mansfield, OH and Laura and Marvin Welty of Mt. Gilead, OH; her good friends, Helen Delashmitt and Lisa Lee; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Cathers and a daughter, Barbie.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday, September 20, 2001 from 6-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Daniel Nichols. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
