Caroline Murphy

Caroline "Connie" Wald Murphy, age 102, of Brookwood Place, Ashland passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. She died in her sleep after a short illness. Mrs. Murphy was born July 1, 1910 in Texas to Philip and Barbara Wald. She was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School. She traveled the United States following her husband who was in the Navy during WWII. Mrs. Murphy returned to Mansfield after the war and resided there the rest of her life.

She was employed as a manager of several dress shops. Connie was a member of the First Congregational Church and participated in the Women's Fellowship. She was also active in volunteer work at R.S.V.P. Community Center.

Surviving is a daughter, Pat Blumenschein of Florida along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Murphy in April 1986; three sisters and their husbands, Martha Misamore, Elizabeth Bernsteil and Christine Donnan; two brothers, Fred Wald and his wife and Robert Wald who died in childhood; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Friends may visit from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. A graveside service in Mansfield Memorial Park will follow at 1:30 p.m. Chaplain Nicole Wilbert will conduct the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
