Catherine Nesta

Catherine Camille Nesta, 92, passed away late Sunday evening, September 5, 2010 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Born July 15, 1918 in Greensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Renzi and James Carpinelli. Catherine and her husband, Rocky, opened Rocky's Pub in 1970, an establishment which has been owned and operated by the family for the last 40 years. Up until two weeks prior to her death, Catherine was still hard at work in the pub she dearly loved. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and enjoyed spending her time with her friends and especially her family and two grandchildren. Catherine enjoyed all types of music, but opera most of all. She was a talented decorator who enjoyed reading and gardening. She was very supportive to those lucky enough to call her a friend.

She is survived by a son, Richard Sally Nesta of Mansfield; grandchildren, Tessa and Marissa Nesta; brothers, Rich Carpinelli of Connellsville, PA, Ernie Mary Carpinelli of Greensburg, PA, Vince Vern Carpinelli of Vinton, VA and Nick Helen Carpinelli of Coral Gables, FL; a sister, Donna Carpinelli Carr of Raleigh, NC; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky in 1985; brother, Joe Carpinelli; and sisters, Terry Shaner and Rose Carpinelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Friends may visit from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield MedCentral Hospice.
