
Charles O. Bailey, 85, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord Sunday, January 24, 2010, at his residence. Born June 19, 1924, in Hitchins, KY, he was the son of Bunyon Niles and Grace Rice Bailey. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and had played guitar in the Navy Band and later in his years, he played for his own enjoyment. Charles was Division Construction Manager of United Telephone/Sprint in Mansfield for 26 years and retired as Division Construction Manager of Sprint in Avon Park, Florida. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, having been a member of the Masonic Lodge #635 in Tennessee. He also enjoyed traveling and had built a log home with his wife in Tennessee.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Yvonne Detterman Bailey; four sons, Larry Jean Bailey of Ontario, Barry Mary Ann Bailey, Steve Linda Bailey all of Ashland and Alan Rosemary Bailey of CA; five daughters, Deb Jay Rogers of South Carolina, Diane Richard Martin of Springboro, OH, Denise Dennis Craze of Ontario, Pam Abruscati of Florida and Melanie Wagner of Colorado; eleven grandchildren, Nathan, Chris, Allison, Ian, Jessica and Andy Bailey, Jonathan Martin, Jacqueline Feldman, Joshua Martin, Aaron Craze and Alexandra Abruscati; seven great grandchildren, Landon and Blake Bailey, Charlotte Jane Bailey, Daniel, Jerimiah, Alyssa and Makaela Martin; and two sisters, Ruth Larimore of Florida and Ann Call of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Gerald Doc Bailey; and two sisters, Nell Crawell and Jean Ratliff.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Life Celebration Reception Center, 129 S. Main St., Mansfield, OH conducted by Rev. Herman King. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
