
Charles R. Ervin, 89, died Saturday morning, May 29, 2004 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Ervin was born September 28, 1914 in Mansfield living in the area all his life. He had worked for Farm Tools and retired from the Ohio Brass Company. Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors. He truly enjoyed hunting, farming and fishing. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren whom he was very close to. He was a very honest, hard working, kind hearted and sincere man.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ervin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles D. and Sande Ervin of Mansfield and David and Christine Ervin of Portland, Oregon; sister, Mary Phelps of Shelby; half sister, Katherine Oswalt; sister-in-law, Josephine Ervin of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Melissa Ervin, Monte and Ivy Ervin, and Shelley and Robert Caltrider; and six great grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Joscelyn and Dane Ervin, Taylor Zody and Callie Caltrider. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Bertha Geitgey Ervin; a great grandson, Luke Ervin; brother, Harold Ervin; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Phelps.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, June 1, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rector Emeritus David S. Sipes. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to the charity of the donor's choice.
