
Charles William "Coke" Hartman, 74, of Mansfield, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield. Born March 28, 1935, in Crestline, he was the son of Wilbur D. and Mary Solinger Hartman. He retired from Crane Plumbing after 30+ years of service in the maintenance department and prior to that had worked for Dominion Electric. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and Ohio sports. Although a quiet man, Coke had a good sense of humor, enjoyed playing cards and was a wonderful uncle.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Doris Sowash Hartman; two sisters, Etta Mae Ford of Port St. Lucie, FL and Mary Lou Thoman of Crestline; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; his niece, Sue Perry, who was like the daughter that he never had; and his little buddy, Snickers, who will sadly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dale, Harold and David Hartman; and a sister, Martha Jane Hartman.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Gretchen Wagner. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, the American Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
