Charles McDermott

Charles Ray "Charlie" McDermott, Jr., age 34, of Mansfield, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 7, 2013. He was born March 28, 1979 in Mansfield to Dawn (Gladden) and Charles Ray McDermott, Sr. He was employed at Mansfield Engineering Company.

Charlie was the family bodyguard and fiercely protected all his family members. His family was most important to him. Charlie enjoyed working out and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his parents, Chuck and April McDermott of Mansfield; brother, Eric McDermott of Mansfield; sister, Julie Baldridge of Mansfield; a niece and nephew, Morgan and Andrew; maternal grandparents, Larry and Ollie Horton of Mansfield; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Gladden McDermott; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Patricia McDermott; and uncle, David McDermott.

Friends and family may visit from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.
