Charles R. Squires, Jr, 76, of Mansfield, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at his residence. Born November 16, 1932, in Akron, he was the son of Charles R. Squires, Sr. and Charlotte Watkins Squires. He was a graduate of Akron University and also served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked at Mansfield Tire and Rubber for 11 years, and then went on to work as a salesman with Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. where he retired from in 1995 after 12 years. He was a lifelong member of the Akron Masonic Benefit Association. Charles had many friends throughout the states from his years of traveling on his jobs. He was a very sentimental man and stayed in touch with his Aunts and Uncles and worked tirelessly restoring a family cemetery dating back to the 1800's. He stayed in touch with his school classmates and get togethers were a source of joy to him. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you were a friend for life. He loved to help people financially, emotionally, or just with advice and he always down-played his actions. Charles will be forever missed by his wife, family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Luamma J. Stimmell Squires; sons, Dean C. Catherine Squires of Mansfield, Dale A. Cathleen Squires of Gifford, NH, and Drew K. Vicky Squires of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Ib Baerentzen of Fortuna, CA.
