

Christine Hergatt Schulties, age 104, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Winchester Terrace. She was born January 8, 1908 to Philip and Christina Hergatt of Mansfield. She married Peter Schulties who preceded her in death on July 19, 1971. Christina was a farmer’s wife all her married life. She loved the great outdoors and had many beautiful flower gardens throughout the years. She was also a wonderful dancer. After her husband’s death, she and her sister Mary traveled all over the United States. Deciding she liked Florida best, she moved there in 1975. While there she enjoyed walking, and would walk many miles every day. She returned to Mansfield for health reasons in 2003.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Jacob Etzwiler; five grandchildren, Roger (Jenny) Schulties, Marsha (Mike) Gill, Eric (Rita) Etzwiler, Kristina (Gerald) Benjamin, and Vicki Keen; seven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and two great great great grandchildren. Preceding Christine in death besides her husband Peter were sons, Richard E. Schulties and Peter Schulties, Jr.; two grandsons, Rick Schulties and Rodney Schulties; one great grandson, Tracy Mosier; sisters, Ann Mulvehill, Mary Ricks, and Eva Goettl of Arizona; and brothers, Christ Hergatt and Philip Hergatt of Mansfield.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Winchester Terrace Nursing Home where Christine had been residing for the past 8 ½ years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Diamond St. Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, conducted by Pastor Bob Stull. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, OH 44805.
