Clara Elizabeth Zimmer, 86, of Mansfield, passed away early Saturday morning, April 15, 2017, at her daughter's home. She was born April 29, 1930, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Henry and Louise (Steffen) Sabo.
She was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Avenue. Clara enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking. She was a people person and enjoyed making new friends wherever she went. Clara dearly loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Clara is survived by six children, James (Cheryl) Zimmer of Bluffton, IN, Barbara (Dan) Tucker, Beverly (Clair) Keever, Susan (Rick) Foss and Jeannine (Mark) Masters, all of Lucas and Melinda (Steve) Roberston of Mansfield; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Domka of Mansfield; four sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty (Joe) Pamer of Mansfield, Wayne (Dorothy) Gerber of Mansfield, Nelson Zimmer of IN, and Barbara Zimmer of IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Robert Zimmer on November 25, 2007; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Sabo; and a sister, Dorothy Gerber.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. The funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Apostolic Christian Church, 84 N. Illinois Avenue, Mansfield, with additional visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.
