
Clarence R. Thompson, 77, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Hospice of North Central Ohio Hospice House, in Ashland. Clarence was born on May 17, 1932 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Deletha Kelly Thompson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Thulle, Greenland with the "Knights of the Blue Nose" and was an integral part of creating the infrastructure in place today in Greenland. A true mechanic at heart, Clarence found himself the owner and operator of Ray's Sohio from 1966-1971. He was always working on cars, and his clients appreciated his thoroughness. He was a member of the Church of God in Ashland. Clarence was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors working in his flower gardens. He was a loving, awesome father and husband and will be dearly missed by everyone.
He is survived by his wife Bernice Muncy Thompson whom he married in 1955; son, Tim Rena Thompson of Westerville; two daughters, Barbara Jim Stimens and Deletha Arlen Yoder, all of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Crystal Wesley Marriner of GA, Kelly Bennet, Jarrod Erica Bennett and Joseph Brown, all of Mansfield; seven step grandchildren, Celeste Fuller of NY, Naomi Fuller of Westerville, Eli Fuller of Rushsylvania, OH, Isaac Fuller of Westerville, Veronica Stimens of Mansfield, Jimmy Stimens of Lorain and Vikki Stimens of West Farmington; one sister, Barbara Russell LeMaster of Louisa, KY; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marion J. and Frank Thompson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Journey Life Center with Pastor Jeff Shaull officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be May 26 in Muncy Cemetery, Louisa, Kentucky.
