Clayton Erskine, Jr.

Clayton A. Erskine, Jr., 69, of Mansfield, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at his home. Born August 9, 1938 in Williamson, West Virginia, he was the son of Clayton Sr. and Irene Campbell Erskine. Clayton retired from General Motors after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an all around kind-hearted, loving and good person who would do anything for anyone when asked.

He is survived by three children, Tish Erskine Ginn, Erica Clement, both of Mansfield and Charles Anthony of California; nine grandchildren, Amber Erskine, Michael Ginn, Kevin Ginn, Delray Williams, Duran Clement, Tiara Clement and Everett Rucker, Jr., Terrell and Issiah; two great-grandchildren, Jayshawn Erskine, Terry Melton III; brother-in-law, Eddie Nash, Sr. of Detroit, MI; special nephew, Eddie Nash, Jr. of Detroit, MI; and good friend, Kavina Wiggins of Mansfield. His parents and a sister, Jerri Nash preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with military rites by Richland County Joint Veteran's Burial Detail following the service. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-1 p.m. The family will receive friends at 123 Poplar St. until the time of the visitation Thursday.
