

Clifford "Bud" D. Franklin, 79, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at Hospice House in Ashland. He was born March 26, 1935, in Floyd County, Kentucky, to the late Virgie (Daniel) and Freddie Franklin.
Bud served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was always active, never wanting to be idle. Cliff had an entrepreneurial spirit his entire life. He was a skilled painter, logger and eventually a painter with General Motors, retiring after 32 1/2 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and playing golf. Cliff also kept his home well maintained and painted throughout the years. Those who knew him knew he was a snazzy dresser. Cliff never left the house without looking his best.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly (Corwin) Franklin; three sons, Cliff Franklin of San Antonio, TX, Greg Franklin and his wife, Marnie, of Ontario and Craig Franklin of Lexington; six grandchildren, Jeff, Jessica, Chase, Kirstan, Joshua and Sydney; three great-grandchildren, Makenzi, Carter and Vince; two sisters, June Carver of Marion and Pat Daniel of SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Franklin and sister, Sue Daniel.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. A funeral service conducted by Rev. Thomas Blair will follow at 7:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
