
Clifford W. Cox, 84, of Home Road, died Friday, December 22, 2006 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness. Born December 15, 1922, in Scioto County, Ohio, he was the only son of the late Pinkney and Emma Woodrum Cox. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic on a hospital train near the front lines during WWII. Clifford moved to Mansfield in 1953 after previously living and working in the Portsmouth area and at General Motors, Kansas City, Kansas. He retired in 1983 from General Motors, CPC in Mansfield. He was a member of Brookwood Way Church of Christ.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. and Dominic Grillo; grandsons, Dominic Grillo and Vincent Ellen Grillo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Louvenia and Roscoe Woodrum whom raised him and his siblings after the deaths of their parents in 1923; his wife, Helen A. Cox; two sisters, Evelyn Cox Jordan and Mary E. Cox; and four brothers, Eugene G., Howard R., Carlton V. and Lowell L. Cox.
There were no calling hours observed. Graveside services with military honors were held Wednesday, December 27 in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, Ohio. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
