
Clifford J. Tadder, 83, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at MedCentral Mansfield. Born March 31, 1927, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, he was the son of Cllifford and Hattie Briant Tadder. He joined the Merchant Marines from High School where he met his wife, Evelyn, and later married. Clifford was then drafted into the Army where he served during World War II. He had worked at Westinghouse for six years, Montgomery Ward's for 10 years and retired from Ontario Schools after 10 years of service. In his spare time, Clifford built two homes for he and his wife, Evelyn. He also enjoyed working outside, going to McDonald's in Ontario every morning with his breakfast club and making wine. He was a member of the Baku Grotto, the Venus Masonic Lodge Charles Hoffman Lodge #767 and the VFW Lodge #7651 of Ontario.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Evelyn L. Coffman Tadder; two daughters, Pam Scott Johnson of Cardington and Cindy Conti of Knoxville, TN; a son, Mark D. Dottie Tadder of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren Johnson, Jennifer Preston Greer, Christopher Lookenott, Samantha and Shannon Tadder; a great grandson, Aiden Greer; and three sisters, Gertrude Walter, Clara Huff and Margaret Messersmith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet Boles and Mary Alice Huff.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield where Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Tony Viscioni. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery where full military services will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
