
Curtis D. Jackson, Jr., 49, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Monday morning, January 28, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Jackson was born August 10, 1952, in Boston, Massachusetts to Curtis D. and Aloma C. Busby Jackson. Curtis was employed as a Corrections Officer with the Richland County Sheriff's Office and at The Center for Individual and Family Counseling. He was a member of the F.O.P. and N.A.B.C.J. He was an active member of Grace Fellowship Church.
Curtis was a beloved and cherished husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Harper Jackson; two sons, Brandon M. and C. Douglas Jackson, both at home; mother, Aloma C. Jackson of Wareham, MA; his sister, Valena Jackson of Somerville, MA.; three brothers, David and Robert of Massachusetts and Jerome of New Hampshire; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his beloved family pet, Maudie Marie. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis D. Jackson, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and an uncle, Donald Busby.
Curtis was an avid cyclist and hand percussionist. He completed several long distance bicycle events including the Hancock Handlebar 100 in Findlay, OH and the Fall-N-Leaf ride sponsored by the Mid-Ohio Bike Club. Among the bands he played with are two local bands, 'Pressure Cooker' and 'Crosswinds.'
Friends may call at the Grace Fellowship Church, 365 Straub Road East, on Saturday, February 2, 2002, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with services being held at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Jerry King. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Donations may be made to a special fund that The Jackson Family has chosen to establish for the purchase of percussion instruments for handicapped children.
